This apartment, located in a typical Marais building, required a major restructuring. Situated on the first floor with an unobstructed view, its potential was remarkable. However, over the decades, it had undergone various renovations, some more successful than others. One of the first steps was to sort out which elements to keep and which did not deserve preservation. It was therefore decided to replace the flooring.
The challenge taken on by the Véronique Cotrel agency was to blend different eras and create a coherent design thread with the few preserved elements. The choice of a Versailles-patterned parquet was made with the intention of modernizing it. It was treated with an extra-matte varnish, giving it a bright, light, and distinctly contemporary tone. The kitchen was completely opened up to the living area and seamlessly integrated. As for the period woodwork that the new residents wished to keep, it was carefully restored with the utmost attention to preserve its authenticity and charm.
